Fr. Antonio Vivaldi
(1678-1741 A.D.)
The Italian composer and violinist was born in Venice. In 1678 he was ordained a priest and worked at the Ospedale della Pietà: an institution for the education of orphans and poor children and an establishment with a much reckoned musical reputation. As a composer Fr. Vivaldi was prolific, with some 500 concertos to his credit, in addition to a quantity of works for the Catholic Church.
